19th Annual Big Steps for Little Feet: Supporting NICU in the U.S.

News
3 June 2025

The Monmouth Medical Center Foundation hosted the 19th Annual Big Steps for Little Feet event on June 1, 2025, to raise funds and awareness for the Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Foundation Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at The Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ. This family-friendly event, supported by the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation as a key financial contributor, brings together NICU families, supporters, and the community for a day of fun, celebration, and meaningful impact.

Funds raised directly support the NICU, which cares for over 500 critically ill and premature infants annually, boasting one of New Jersey’s highest infant survival rates. The NICU, established in 1968 as the first of its kind in the state, is uniquely equipped to meet the needs of infants born prematurely, with low birth weight, or requiring specialized care or surgery. The H. Hovnanian Family Foundation’s generous contributions have been instrumental in enabling the purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment, enhancing the NICU’s ability to provide life-saving care to the region’s smallest and most fragile patients.

The H. Hovnanian Family Foundation, founded by philanthropists Hirair and Anna Hovnanian, has a long-standing commitment to supporting healthcare and community initiatives in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, alongside its global efforts for Armenian communities. Their support for the NICU, including a $2 million donation for a 2013 expansion, has significantly advanced the unit’s capacity to deliver exceptional care.
