OUR HISTORY

The “H. Hovnanian Family Foundation” was established in 1986 by American-Armenian philanthropists Hirair and Anna Hovnanian

  • $97 million

    Since its inception, the Foundation has given over $97 million to various charitable organizations, scholarships to students, and several of its own operating programs.

  • 2004

    First group of 32 volunteers join the Birthright Armenia program, whose founder is Edele Hovnanian. 2,500 volunteers have been sponsored to date from 55 countries

  • 2006

    In 2006 the Foundation’s Armenia branch was opened in Yerevan, Armenia, successfully carrying out charitable projects and educational programs in various spheres, including scholarships and fellowships.

  • 2010

    Establishment of the Hovnanian Scholarship at Villanova University. 

  • 2015

    Consecration of Saint Anna Church in downtown Yerevan, built by Hirair Hovnanian in honor of his wife. 

  • 2017

    Fulbright-Hovnanian Scholarship Program was launched as a partnership between the U.S State Department and the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation. The program invests in students seeking a Master's degree in STEM+E studies in the United States. The graduate-level education of 23 students have been funded to date.

  • 2022

    The H. Hovnanian Family Foundation announces a $10 million gift to Villanova University to support student and faculty-focused academic initiatives.
