The H. Hovnanian Family Foundation is proud to extend its support to the Arishta Festival, an annual celebration that has been held for the fourth consecutive year in the village of Bjni in Armenia’s Kotayk Province. This vibrant festival is a testament to the rich culture and traditions of Armenian rural communities and serves as a platform to showcase these unique aspects to the world.

At its core, the Arishta Festival is dedicated to making the culture and traditions of Armenian rural communities visible. It is a celebration of the unique way of life, art, and culinary heritage that has been passed down through generations. By doing so, the festival aims to increase the tourist attraction of the villages in the region and popularize Arishta, a traditional Armenian homestyle pasta (similar to Italian Fettuccini).

The Arishta Festival is not just about food; it's a multifaceted celebration of Armenian heritage. Within the festival's framework, a diverse range of cultural, educational, and informative events take place. These events serve as a unique platform for mutual dialogue, cooperation, and the exchange of experiences among locals and visitors alike.

Among the highlights of the festival are engaging competitions that challenge participants in various traditional skills and master classes that offer opportunities for festival-goers to learn and appreciate traditional crafts. The festival also features exhibitions showcasing local artworks and crafts and entertaining puppet musicals that narrate traditional stories. Live music performances keep the festival atmosphere lively, while demonstrations of the art of noodle-making and the sale of local delicacies offer visitors a chance to savor and purchase regional specialties. Culinary enthusiasts can explore the preparation of traditional foods like arishta, zhingyalov hats, and Artsakh gata through interactive workshops.

Beyond the festival grounds, attendees have the opportunity to explore the beautiful surroundings of Bjni. Tours are organized to destinations like the Bjni fortress, natural water springs, Tsak Kar, and other nearby places of interest. It's a chance to immerse oneself in the history and natural beauty of the region.

In the lead-up to the festival, the Improve Our Village NGO organizes informal courses for women and young people from Bjni and neighboring villages. These courses provide valuable skills and knowledge, empowering the local community and fostering a sense of pride in their heritage.

The Arishta Festival is more than just an event; it's a celebration of Armenian culture, tradition, and community spirit. With the support of various organizations and groups, it continues to grow and thrive, leaving a lasting impact on the preservation and promotion of Armenia's rich heritage.
