H. Hovnanian Family Foundation Supports POAC Autism Services

News
8 March 2024

In a significant boost to autism services, the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation has allocated an $85,000 grant to a non-profit organization POAC Autism Services in 2023. The grant will provide continued support for the organization's mission to help children and adults with autism achieve their fullest potential by providing quality training, support, and recreation.

The grant will primarily sustain POAC's Autism Shield training program, crucial for educating police, first responders, and medical staff. The training provides invaluable information on autism recognition and response and has been directly credited with saving lives throughout New Jersey. In recent years, Autism Shield has expanded from local and state departments to include federal agencies such as the TSA and FBI. The program also provides training for hospitals including strategies to improve the safety and experience for both patients and staff. In addition, POAC provides a companion training program to parents and educators on various safety topics as well as a new Safety Section on their website. The section includes videos and resources that anyone can use at no cost.

The H. Hovnanian Family Foundation is proud to support POAC Autism Services in its mission to empower individuals with autism and their families. We are committed to fostering inclusivity and understanding within our communities and recognize the invaluable work that POAC does in advancing autism awareness and support. Together, we look forward to continuing this partnership and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by autism spectrum disorder.
